XR Culture digitised the Roman Glass collection of the Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Verona
Glass and metal objects are known to be very hard to digitize. To digitize this precious and fragile collection from the I-III centuries AD, the XR Culture team, along with Pixelated realities and Inception Srl used AI and advanced photogrammetry and Gaussian Splatting methods.
The team captured seventy-seven unique pieces of ancient Roman glassware. The collection includes objects such as balsamari, anfore, bicchieri, piatti, bottiglie, olle, coperchi, and brocche (vases, balsamaria, pitchers, glasses and bottles of various shapes and sizes). They will soon be published on Europeana by CARARE.
