Executive Vice-President Virkkunen hosts Twin It! event celebrating digitisation of cultural heritage

The TwinIt! II final event in Brussels was hosted by Executive Vice-President for Technological Sovereignty, Security and Democracy, Henna Virkkunen, alongside Cyprus' Deputy Minister of culture, Vasiliki Kassiandou, on behalf of the Council of the EU.

CARARE was pleased to be represented at the event at which ministers of culture from several countries presented high-quality 3D models captured for the TwinIt! II campaign. The stories about why their country had captured a particular heritage asset in 3D, its historical and current context were very moving.

CARARE has been actively supporting the TwinIt! campaign both by assisting member states to share their 3D models with Europeana and by contributing to training delivered under 3D-4CH.

As part of the TwinIt! II campaign we delivered 17 new 3D models from 7 institutions in Belgium, Ukraine, Luxembourg, Denmark and Ireland.

3D model of a drum belonging to the 2nd Battalion of the Royal Irish Regiment present at the Battle of Mons on August 23, 1914. The drum is now part of the collection of the Mons Memorial Museum. The model was contributed to Europeana as part of the TwinIt! II campaign with aggregation support by CARARE.
