Digital Past is a two-day conference which showcases innovative digital technologies for data capture, interpretation and dissemination of heritage sites and artefacts.

As this year marks Digital Past’s 10th anniversary, it will reflect on the exciting developments over ten years of digital heritage, the lessons learnt, and the opportunities and challenges for the sector in the decade ahead.

Digital Past 2018 will be held in the award-winning Aberystwyth Arts Centre, Wales’s largest arts centre with stunning views over the historic market town and resort – also a lively university town – and Cardigan Bay. Aberystwyth, the ‘Biarritz of Wales’, sits at the heart of the beautiful west Wales coastline, conveniently located on the mainline Cambrian Line railway.

The conference will offer a combination of papers, hands-on workshops and demonstrations to investigate the latest technical survey and interpretation techniques and their practical application in heritage interpretation, education and conservation.

Call for contributions

Submissions are being sought from those working on innovative projects on the themes outlined below in a research or operational capacity, who can contribute to this both retrospective and forward-looking conference. Contributions can be made through formal presentations or workshops, or more informally through the ‘unconference’ session or a show stand. Contributions through the medium of Welsh or English, or bilingually are welcome.

Cynhadledd ddau ddiwrnod sy’n canolbwyntio ar dechnolegau digidol arloesol ar gyfer casglu, dehongli a lledaenu gwybodaeth am safleoedd ac arteffactau treftadaeth yw Gorffennol Digidol.

Gan ei bod hi’n ben-blwydd Gorffennol Digidol yn 10 oed eleni, byddent yn myfyrio ar y datblygiadau cyffrous ym maes treftadaeth ddigidol yn ystod y ddeng mlynedd ddiwethaf, y gwersi a ddysgwyd, a’r cyfleoedd a heriau ar gyfer y sector yn ystod y degawd nesaf.

Cynhelir cynhadledd Gorffennol Digidol 2018 yn y Ganolfan Gelfyddydau arobryn yn Aberystwyth. Hon yw canolfan gelfyddydau fwyaf Cymru ac oddi yma fe welwch olygfeydd godidog dros y dref farchnad a chyrchfan gwyliau hanesyddol – sydd hefyd yn dref brifysgol fywiog – a Bae Ceredigion. Mae Aberystwyth, ‘Biarritz Cymru’, hanner ffordd ar hyd arfordir prydferth gorllewin Cymru mewn lleoliad cyfleus ar Reilffordd y Cambria.

Bydd y digwyddiad yn cynnig cyfuniad o bapurau a gweithdai ac arddangosiadau ymarferol a fydd yn edrych ar y technegau arolygu technegol a dehongli diweddaraf a’u cymwysiadau ym meysydd dehongli, addysgu a diogelu treftadaeth.

Galwad am gyfraniadau

Mae Gorffennol Digido yn ceisio cyflwyniadau gan y rheiny sy’n gweithio ar brosiectau arloesol yn y meysydd a amlinellir isod, naill ai fel ymchwilwyr neu staff, a all gyfrannu i’r gynhadledd hon sy’n edrych yn ôl ac ymlaen. Gellir cyfrannu ar ffurf cyflwyniadau, seminarau neu weithdai ffurfiol, neu’n fwy anffurfiol drwy’r sesiwn ‘anghynhadledd’ neu stondin arddangos. Maent yn croesawu cyfraniadau Cymraeg, Saesneg neu ddwyieithog Manylir isod ar y gwahanol ddulliau.
