CARARE

The project has established the CARARE metadata schema as a harvesting schema to support the delivery of metadata to the CARARE service environment and to Europeana.

The CARARE metadata schema builds on work on standards and best practices for recording archaeological sites, monuments, historic buildings and archaeological artefacts from a number of different countries in Europe and the rest of the world - including MIDAS Heritage (from English Heritage), POLIS (a Greek national research initiative), LIDO (from the EU-funding ATHENA project), CIDOC working group on archaeological sites, the Council of Europe's work on Historic Buildings and the Architectural Heritage and also the INSPIRE directive for Geographic Information. The schema is the outcome of work by the members of the CARARE metadata working group, the Digital Curation Unit's metadata team and the English Heritage Data Standards Unit.

The outline of the schema can be found at: http://www.carare.eu/eng/Resources/CARARE-metadata-schema-outline-v1.0
