2nd CARARE Plenary meeting held in Pisa 16-17 Sept 2010
The first results of the content survey were presented - in all, 80 different sets of data were received and analysed (some further clarifications are needed) and the conclusion was that the CARARE collections are a mixed bag! The Metadata Working Group also presented their findings and announced that they would have the first CARARE schema ready soon. The metadata aspects generated some very lively discussion. Other contributions included the Europeana Danube release, the INSPIRE directive (of interest to archaelogists as this covers "protected sites") and metadata for 3D objects. There was also the standard presentation on Project Management stuff.
The second day was spent getting to grips with the CARARE content ingestion software developed by NTUA with some sample metadata files followed by working group meetings. SNS provided the meeting facilities and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality and sights of Pisa and the opportunity to network with all their CARARE colleagues.
